Yoga Class Tips

 

To create the best experience for yourself and others, we ask that you … 

Bring your own yoga mat and yoga props to class for hygienic and energetic reasons. Common yoga props are:

  • yoga blanket or a big towel 
  • yoga blocks 
  • yoga strap

Arrive a few minutes before class begins. Give yourself time for a few stretches, a moment of meditation, or time to relax from the day. 

Come with an empty stomach. Yoga is best practiced three hours after a meal. During class, please do not drink water. Water cools the inner heat (what the yogis call "tapas") that helps makes the body flexible. Do drink plenty of water after class. 

Remove your shoes and socks before entering the studio. 

Turn off cell phones and pagers. 

Refrain from cigarette, alcohol, perfumes or fragrances. 

Tell your teacher about any injuries or special health conditions before class. This will help the teacher make suggestions to make your practice safer and more enjoyable. 

Wear comfortable exercise clothes that allow you to move freely.
